„No man is an island entire of itself; every man

is a piece of the continent, a part of the main;

if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe

is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as

well as any manner of thy friends or of thine

own were; any man’s death diminishes me,

because I am involved in mankind.

And therefore never send to know for whom

the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.“

John Donne

The faith wanted me to be a part of an island for the majority of my life, where I grew up in quiet harmony with nature and the slow and patient movement of plants and the sea.

The island molds your character and in a way provokes energy that is quite different from the peacefulness of it. It molds you, but at the same time, it sets you free. Surrounded by silence, you have to find answers within yourself, diving deep and finding universal thoughts in an individual pool of emotions.

The piano was there from the start. I remember it just like you would remember an old sofa from your childhood, it was an essential, elemental part of my life. Playing and singing became my way of breaking the silence, of finding my own voice within that small space, of wanting to not just be an island, but to invite the world in, to feel free of the borders, real or imaginary.

Still I am doing the same – finding the truth of human existence in my lyrics, inviting the world to my personal island, finding connection, offering some solace to the lonely or the invisible, hoping that my experience could make at least a tiny difference.

Because of that, thank you for listening.
